How Luna Hope Haven Came to Be
As the founder of Luna Hope Haven, stability is something close to my heart. In my own life, I've moved through many changes of seasons, embracing every moment of joy as much as hardship. There were periods of loss, instability, nights without a bed of my own, days without enough food, and no one I could call. I remember the overwhelming feeling of hopelessness as I spent hours searching the internet for some lifeline to keep me afloat. I knew the resources were out there somewhere — but the answers I needed were scattered across dead links, disconnected phone numbers, and outdated information I couldn't keep track of or piece together on my own.
This is why I created Luna Hope Haven.
Luna Hope Haven is the resource I needed and couldn't find — or didn't know existed in our community. What I found, once I started looking, was comforting: Oregon is full of people, groups, and organizations that genuinely want to help. So I got to work and compiled an ever-growing list of every program, hotline, shelter, food bank, and clinic — with clear eligibility and step-by-step application guidance, all in one place, accessible to anyone.
When we are trying to survive, that is all we can focus on. Survival. Immediate safety. Maintaining. Rebuilding. Having someone help you find resources that fit your situation, or break down the systems that feel impossible to navigate alone, can provide a level of comfort that makes a world of difference when you're experiencing instability. It did for me.
Here, there is no gatekeeping. No fees. No judgment. No overwhelming overload of information to research and decipher — just to find that a promising lead is no longer active. Just clear guidance, verified next steps and eligibility, and a helping hand in finding the support you need at this moment.
Luna's story and my past, present, and future remind me: one point in the right direction, one phone call, one kind conversation, one connection — can change everything. Just as it was not the end of our story, it is not the end of yours.
We hope in some small way, we can make the first steps a bit easier for you.
Whatever you're carrying right now, whether you have your own Luna, a support system big or small, or for now it's just you — you are not alone.
Luna is here.
I'm here.
And a whole community is ready to support you. We'll help you find them.
With love,
Luna Hope Haven
